Not necessarily. The most common cause of 'card not detected' messages is a flat card battery, which is a simple self-service replacement using a CR2032 battery. If a fresh battery doesn't resolve the issue, the card's transponder chip or internal circuitry may have failed, or the vehicle's UCH may have lost its programming. Renault key cards are highly vehicle-specific. Cards purchased online are sometimes unsuitable due to incorrect chip specification, wrong frequency, or incompatible card generation. If you have a card, we'll assess it on arrival. If it's compatible, we'll programme it. If not, we carry our own stocks and can usually supply the correct card at the same visit.
